Straight Talk - April 2008
In the past few months, Realcomp has started receiving reports from agents expressing concerns that others are sharing their login information and facilitating unauthorized access into Realcomp OnlineĀ®. This includes sharing passwords with agents that are not Realcomp subscribers and with consumers. We take this charge very seriously and thoroughly investigate each complaint that we receive. If an agent is found to be in violation of our rules regarding the sharing of login information, they are assessed a $5,000 fine for the first offense and up to $10,000 for the second.
As a result of the increase in these reports, Realcomp is considering implementing additional security measures. These include requiring users to change their passwords more frequently and the use of external personal security devices (such as key fobs) in order to access the system.
We will continue to monitor this issue. Security of the MLS data remains of the utmost importance to the Board.
